On the street where I live

My Fair Lady was/is one of my favorite musicals (only to be recently replaced by Hamilton...omg). I think My Fair Lady was one of my mother's very few trips to NYC to see the musical with my father. So, yes, I grew up on the dashing yet bootless, Freddy Hill, endlessly pinning away on Eliza Doolittle's street, lyrically raving it's the most exciting and beautiful street anywhere. Ever.
I understand Freddy. I don't know as it's necessarily disillusionment, but, when I'm in love (with the place I'm living, with life, my husband...of course), then I see beauty everywhere. But, I know it's all about being in love, a perspective, that not everyone will see. I know this especially, as, when I walked to the library today, I started snapping some pictures on my phone, as a man was coming out of his house, he said to me "you're actually finding stuff to take pictures of around here??!". lol
Craig and I moved into a town house in Pittsburgh's South Side Flats. We are a couple of blocks from East Carson street (picture above), that claims to be the best Victorian main street in the country. It is a national historic district, and, if you block out all the tattoo parlors, it is quite charming. Our neighborhood has an interesting mix of Victorian architecture, steel-worker row houses, and modern row houses. It's also a mixture of well-taken care of homes, and some run down and struggling homes. I think that speaks for Pittsburgh in general. Any part of the city of you go through, you will see pristine, Gilded-age mansions next to boarded up, graffiti ridden houses, next to modern apartment complexes. There's a history here.
We live on Mary Street. Our house was built in 2009 and I think, with most things around here, they did a nice job of blending in and giving the place some character.

The next street is Mary Jane Street.

Then there's Jane street. And Sarah street. And Josephine street. Yes, there's a pattern here.
Here's some of the pics I took today in my neighborhood. Ever see the poster The Doors of Dublin? (and then some smart-ass did an Out-Houses of Alabama), but you get the general idea:

The Doors of Southside Flats
Craig thinks we should paint our door. I'm thinking of lavender.....
