40 Years!

40 Years!

Wow, so my college roommate and sorority sister, Angie, recently reminded me that this is our 40th college reunion year...holy crap!

As our sorority president, Angie was always good at organizing and reminding us of these things, like graduations and such. So we got together for lunch and had a glass of champagne and talked about everything over a 40 year friendship, which is nothing to sneeze at. We went through a lot in college together. I had to turn down being a bridesmaid in her wedding as I was due to have a baby that month. Angie's been to two of my three weddings, we've met up for spa weekends with Jayne, and stayed in touch thru lots of stuff, otherwise called LIFE.

Here we are 40 years later. Geez, we're just getting started!

And, gosh, I just went to a graduation recently. My friends Denise and Dan's son, Nathan, graduated from RIT this year. Very cool!

I've been thinking about and wrestling a bit with time, lately (no pun intended!). Time is more valuable than money. You can't buy time. Time doesn't discriminate. Time doesn't favor rich over poor. Time is not on your side, but it isn't against you, it actually just doesn't care, and goes by no matter what.

I've been wrestling with this because I'm moving, and it feels like I'm walking into a whole new life. Craig and I are moving to Pittsburgh (lots more about this in Craig's blog: https://auld-riecke.ghost.io/). His blog is funnier than mine (it's ok, really!), but I have the better pics!

So I did what a wife of a geek does for any big event in your life, I created a playlist. Also, being the wife of a geek means I'm not all that technologically adept, so there is probably a more sophisticated way of doing this, but there is no way I'm going to ask Craig what that way is! Therefore, you'll need to right click on the link and click on "open tab in new window", and even then it probably isn't going to work. But trust me, it's a GREAT playlist for saying goodbye to your home of 17 years. So, just a note on the playlist: the Mumford and Sons song, "Caroline", I actually live in the town of Caroline, even though it's an Ithaca address...thus. My playlist also has songs of looking forward to new and unknown-wonder in a new place. And, some of the other songs, for me, it's sometimes easier to say goodbye to things if I can find fault in them or be angry with them about something. A good example is every time I look out onto my beautiful back yard I remind myself of the trees that came crashing down that I still have nightmares about. (Really, I have literal nightmares about trees chasing me up the street...seriously.)

Today everything is nice and peaceful out there,

You get my point...

There is one big time exception to this...FRIENDS.

I have been totally BLESSED with the most wonderful friends here in Ithaca. They have been warm and loving, and very hard to say goodbye to. Goodbyes, I just try to avoid, it's painful, but my friends weren't having it. It's been good.

Good-bye!
Hello!

I've got so much more to say about all this, but, guess I'd better get packing...this all isn't going to move itself (well, however, somehow life keeps going by, regardless.)

Thank you for reading my blog,
